A young woman’s alleged city joy ride in a stolen car turned deadly when she allegedly hit and killed a man on a motorised scooter and injured a pedestrian.

A 20-year-old woman has been charged after a deadly car crash in the CBD killed one man and injured a pedestrian on October 24.
Police allege Ayse Leila Laz was driving a stolen Honda Civic through Melbourne before the joy ride became a hit and run just before 7pm.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives claim she was driving with a female passenger when the car hit a man on a motorised scooter and a pedestrian at the intersection of King St and Latrobe St.
It is alleged she took off from the scene before help arrived.
The motorcyclist suffered life threatening injuries and later died in hospital.
The pedestrian, a 58-year-old Maidstone man, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police intercepted the car 20 minutes later at the intersection of Emu Parade and Gavin St, Jacana where they arrested two women before taking them to hospital with minor injuries.
The Broadmeadows woman was interviewed and charged with culpable driving causing death, reckless conduct endangering life/serious injury, theft of motor vehicle and other driving offences, committing an indictable offence while on bail and failing to stop and render assistance.
She was remanded in custody overnight before appearing at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court earlier this week.
A 35-year-old woman with no fixed address who was a passenger in the car and remains in hospital.
She has been assisting police with their questions.
Ms Laz will return to the Melbourne Magistrates' court in March next year.
