WRFL: Yarraville Seddon beat Sunshine behind Blake and Lachlan Green

A VFL listed young gun starred on his return from injury in his first game alongside his brother as Yarraville Seddon unveiled a 17-year-old future star ruckman.

Yarraville Seddon coach Brad Julier admits it's hard to imagine young gun Lachlan Green will be in his side too often.

In his return to the Eagles’ line-up, the Carlton VFL listed player dominated with two goals in a best on ground display as his side got their first win of the year, 13.14 (92) to 12.14 (86) against Sunshine.

It was just Green’s second game since 2019 after he overcame a series of injuries.

Julier said “the VFL beckons sooner rather than later” for the young gun.

“He’s a super talent who has been really unfortunate with injuries,” he said on Sunday.

“He’s come through the Western Jets program and everyone at the club knows just how much he can add to the club.

“It would be nice to have him every week but we want to see our players push themselves to the highest level they can.

“I think Lachie will only get better with the more footy he plays this year as well.”

Not to be outdone Green’s older brother Blake kicked three goals and was named in the Eagles better players on his return to the senior side.

It was their first senior game together.

Meanwhile young ruckman Seb Isolani produced a stunning display on his senior debut producing an “equally as impressive” performance.

Isolani only arrived at the Eagles’ nest this year after crossing from Flemington Juniors, which a number of players have done due to a connection between the two clubs.

Julier said with one of the club’s two under 18 sides having a bye he thought it was the perfect moment to unleash the talented prospect.

“We threw him in the ruck and he jumped into his opponent at the first contest which gave us a sign of his intent,” he said.

“He used his body well and didn’t take a backwards step. Then we he went forward, he didn’t get pushed aside and gave us a real contest.

“It was a really impressive start.”

Fellow young gun Darcy Grieves was also named in the best for the second straight game, while Sam Walker and Brandon Lester were also impressive.

“We’ve got a fantastic core of young guys who will be one-point players for us which is fantastic,” Julier said.

“I think we’ve got a bright future ahead because our junior teams have a heap of talent. We probably just need to add some experienced bodies around them.

“The reserves and under 18s side who played had a win as well so it was a fantastic day for the club.”

Sunshine’s Hisham Kerbatieh threatened to take the game away from the Eagles off his own boot with eight majors in a best on ground display but ultimately fell short.

Tom Mundy, Ethan Jackson, Harrison Minett, Ethan Sivijs and Pat O’Keefe were also among the better players for Sunshine.

Yarraville Seddon will look to make it two straight next weekend against Point Cook while Sunshine takes on St Albans.
