September 14, 2013 marked the start of one of the most dominant era in local footy history.
Deer Park prevailed 15.10 (100) to 14.15 (99) against Spotswood in the WRFL Division 1 decider to mark the start of a run of seven straight flags.
The Lions overcame a 41-point margin to secure the flag against the Woodsmen who were appearing in their seventh straight decider.
“I don’t want to say it’s the end of an era for (Spotswood), but we’re coming hard,” Deer Park coach Marc Bullen said at the time.
“We’re going to recruit and promote. This is not a one-year wonder thing. We’re going to do everything we can do to get sustained success at this footy club.
“We’ve copped a lot of stuff off the field, people say a lot of things, but the blokes don’t see what I see.”
