Daniel Hovey’s performance in the Western Region league is going to take some beating this season.

The Suns spearhead was at the centre of everything on Saturday finishing with a monster 26 goals in the Division 3 clash against North Sunshine.

A former league best-and-fairest, Hovey returned to the Suns at the start of the season as they chase grand final redemption after a shock defeat in last year’s decider against Braybrook.

By the time the final siren sounded, the Suns ran out 47.14 (296) to 3.3 (21) winners.

Suns coach Dean Cachia was also able to fill this boots with 10 majors.

In other matches, Sunshine Heights were far too strong for Laverton prevailing 27.18 (180) to 5.11 (41) behind six goals from Kyall Parker.

The Dragons performance was built off an eight-goal to one opening term.

Arian Sarandis chipped in with four goals while Jeremy Angelowitsch was named the best player on the ground for Heights.

Off-season recruit Matt Vorbach battled hard for the Magpies, named best for his side.

Albanvale claimed its second win of the season courtesy of a 73-point victory over Tarneit.

Matt Taylor and Nathan Johnson led the way in front of goal for the Cobras with five apiece as Jackson Smith was named best on ground.

Micheal Naawi was Tarneit’s best.
