Star recruit Andrejs Everitt produced his best performance for Yarraville-Seddon on Saturday as the perennial WRFL Division 2 contender walloped West Footscray.

Everitt displayed his class with a six-goal haul in the Eagles 95-point triumph, 23.16 (154) to 9.5 (59).

The former Western Bulldogs, Sydney and Carlton player was unveiled as the club’s big-name signing days after the end of last season and he could prove crucial later in the campaign as Yarraville-Seddon looks to ease the pain of three consecutive grand final defeats.

“He’s starting to come good,” coach Vinnie Turcinovich said of Everitt.

“He missed a big chunk of pre-season and he’s just started to string a few training sessions together, and it showed again that training is so important.

“That’s why he started clunking a few good pack marks and kicking some nice goals.

“He definitely played his best game, but the whole team played their best games as well.”

The Eagles established a three-goal advantage at the first change and were never seriously challenged on their home turf.

James Edmonds and Blake Green starred in the midfield, Lachie Huell fired in defence and James Backway and Jesse Varsamakis contributed three goals apiece.

Turcinovich also heaped praise on debutant Ole Angerstein, who is “about 6 foot 10 and 115kg”.

Yarraville-Seddon is 2-2 after completing an undefeated home-and-away season in 2018.

“The competition is going to be a lot more even,” Turcinovich said.

“We know the first few games, teams are putting a line on Yarraville-Seddon Eagles when they play us and making sure they come out and play a decent game.

“We’re starting to get the team balance right. We’ve got a really flexible forward line and the backs are starting to work together as well.

“We prepared like it was a grand final, and you’ve got to do that every week.

“If you’re 5 or 10 per cent off, sides will get a sniff and it will be hard day at the office.”

The Eagles will next face Parkside, which went down to Wyndhamvale by 81 points in Round 4.

“We know they’re going to come out and play that hard, contested footy,” Turcinovich said.

“It will be a good game. The side that prepares well during the week and before the game will come up trumps.”
