Who are the teams in contention for an unbeaten season in local footy

It’s the pinnacle of local footy, winning the premiership and not losing a game all season. See the clubs on track for the perfect year.

It is almost the end of the season through the footy season and multiple teams are in contention to complete the double, premiership glory and an unbeaten year.

In metro and country footy there are teams yet to taste defeat this season and will be aiming to finish the year with a zero in the losses column.

Here is the list of those in contention for their perfect season.

Albion, Western – 19-0

The Cats have obliterated their rivals, winning 19 games this season and conceding on average under 30 points a game. Albion is one game away from the premiership in Division 2 after winning the semi-final by 24 points on Saturday.

Buln Buln, Ellinbank – 19-0

The Lyrebirds have been utterly dominant this year. Buln Buln won 18 matches during the regular season with 13 of them coming by five goals or more. Qualified for the grand final last Saturday with a 31-point win over Ellinbank.

Cheltenham, Southern – 17-1-0

Ended an 89-year top division premiership drought last year and is on track to win again this year. Has won 17 matches but had a draw recently with St Paul’s McKinnon. Still on track for a perfect year. Plays its first finals match this weekend.

Harrow Balmoral, Horsham – 17-0

Finished last season with a perfect record and a premiership and is on track to do the same in 2024. Has won all 16 games this season but not in the dominant fashion like last year. The side will play in the grand final in two weeks time after beating Swifts by 82 points.

Murchison Toolamba, Kyabram – 15-2-0

The Grasshoppers are the only team in the Kyabram league with an unbeaten record after Lancaster earlier this season. The team won 14 of 16 games regular season games and had two draw during the year. The team is into the grand final after beating Lancaster by 43 points on Saturday.

St Joseph’s, Geelong – 18-0

Lucky to still be unbeaten after almost losing to St Mary’s and Leopold earlier this year. The Joey’s are chasing their first premiership in six years and have won 18 games in a row.
