The longest winning and losing streaks from Victorian local footy

Some local footy teams can’t stop winning while others are still searching for a win after multiple years. Check out the longest winning and losing streaks across the state.

Season 2024 is underway in local footy and for some clubs they will be hoping their streaks will continue for a long time to come.

For others the streak isn’t a good one with some teams not experiencing wins in years.

Harrow Balmoral has the best streak in local footy, with 34 wins, while Maryborough are now winless in 62 matches.

Here are biggest unbeaten and losing current active streaks in Victoria.

LONGEST WINNING STREAKS

HARROW BALMORAL, Horsham - 35 games

The Kangaroos have the longest winning streak in local footy. Harrow obliterated the competition last year to win the Horsham District league in an unbeaten season. And now the team is one win from doing the same this year, winning all 17 matches this season.

BULN BULN, Ellinbank District - 27 games 

Won its first premiership in nine years last year and is on track to win it again this year after making the grand final in the competition. Unbeaten in 27 games and has won 19 straight this year.

CHELTENHAM, Southern - 20 games

Won its first Division 1 premiership in 89 years last year and has continued to be the team to beat in the Southern league this year. The streak currently stands at 20 games despite having a draw this season.

ALBION, Western - 19 games

On track to be promoted to Division 1 of Western football after dominating Division 2 this year. The team has won all 19 games this season and will play in the grand final on September 14.

EDITHVALE-ASPENDALE, Mornington Peninsula - 18 games

Has won 18 straight games after losing to Chelsea in the opening round of the season. The side recently defeated Chelsea to book their place in the MPFNL Division 2 grand final, which will be held this weekend.

ST JOSEPH'S, Geelong - 18 games

Despite almost losing twice in the early stages of the year, to Leopold and St Mary's, St Joseph's have now won 18 matches in a row to be the best team in the Geelong league.

MURCHISON-TOOLAMBA, Kyabram District - 17 games

Unbeaten in 17 games but the run could have ended twice this season with two draws. The Grasshoppers qualified for the grand final with a 43-point win over Lancaster last Saturday.

FRANKSTON DOLPHINS, Southern - 16 games

Has been unbeaten since round three, winning 16 games in a row to be on top in the Division 3 league. The Dolphins will be playing in the grand final this week.

TRARALGON TYERS UNITED, North Gippsland - 16 games

After losing the first match of the season to Woodside, the reigning premiers have responded in the North Gippsland league. The team has won 16 straight matches and is into the grand final in two weeks time.

KERANG, Central Murray - 15 games

On track for a three-peat in the competition. After losing the first game of the season the Blues have been unbeaten in 15 games, winning 14 and drawing against the Mallee Eagles. Finals for the Blues starts this week.

IMPERIAL, Sunraysia - 14 games

The Imps are one game away from going from bottom to top in the competition after an incredible season. Led by former Essendon live-wire Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti the team won the minor premiership and is unbeaten in 14 matches. 

ECHUCA, Goulburn Valley - 14 games

On track for three-straight premierships in the Goulburn Valley league. The Mighty Bombers have not lost in 14-straight matches and now play Rochester for a spot in the grand final after beating Shepparton in the first final on Saturday.

LONGEST LOSING STREAKS

MARYBOROUGH, Bendigo - 62 games

The Bendigo league outfit now has the longest losing streak in local footy. The team has not won a game since 2021 when the team defeated Castlemaine. Since then the team has lost 62 in a row, including a record-breaking 333-point loss to Sandhurst, a few weeks ago.

NORTH SUNSHINE, Western - 55 games

Hasn’t won a game since 2021 and lost all 18 games during the season. The team has the longest losing streak in metro Victorian footy.

GORMANDALE, North Gippsland - 47 games

The North Gippsland side hasn’t won since round one in 2022 and were winless last year and this year.

CARAMUT, Mininera - 41 games

Has a losing streak at more than two years. The Swans lost all games last year and this year and the last 10 in the 2022 season.

MELTON SOUTH, Ballarat - 39 games

It’s been a tough two seasons for Melton South with the Panthers losing all games in 2023 and 2024. The team has not won since 2022 and could be in another league next year.

SOUTH YARRA, Southern - 37 games

Forced to withdraw their senior team from Division 4 in the Southern League last year, after eight straight losses, but the club came back this year. The team has lost 37 matches in a row including all 18 matches this season.

CAMPBELLS CREEK, Maryborough District - 36 games

It's been another tough year for the Magpies, losing all 16 matches. The last win for the team came in 2022 when it defeated Maryborough Rovers, who are now an amalgamated side.

BUNYIP, West Gippsland - 36 games

Lost every game last season in the competition after getting rid of Tim McGibney as coach at the end of 2022. This year the team has lost all 18 matches. Their last win came in round 18 in 2022 against Dalyston.

PORTLAND, Hampden - 33 games

The Tigers have not won a game in the Hampden league since Anzac Day last year. The streak has now increased to 33 matches after losing all 18 matches this season.

EAST SUNBURY, Essendon District - 32 games

Still yet to win a match despite coming out of recess in 2022. East Sunbury lost 16 games last year and all 16 this year.

YARROWEYAH, Picola District - 23 games

Has lost 23 straight matches including all 16 this season. The team almost conceded, on average, 200 points a game.

SKYE, Southern - 23 games

It's been a tough season for the Bombers, losing all 18 games in Division 2 in the Southern league to be relegated. The streak is currently 23 matches.

MORDIALLOC, Southern - 21 games

Been a tough season for Mordialloc in Division 1, losing all 16 games, to be on track for relegation. The team has not won since 2023 and the streak stands at 21 after losing their last five games last year.

MITIAMO, Loddon Valley - 20 games

It's been a tough season for the Kangaroos, losing all 16 games this season. The team has conceded, on average, more than 130 points a game.

MERINGUR, Millewa - 19 games

The Kangaroos have not won in the competition since last year, losing all 15 games this season. The team lost all but one game by more than 100 points.
