SOUTH Croydon coach Luke McCormick would like to see more of Brayden Kilpatrick at the Bulldogs.

With a squeeze for spots at Box Hill after the abolishment of the development league last year, Kilpatrick has been one of several players return to local level in the first half of the season.

Originally in Sydney’s academy, the 20-year-old moved to Victoria three years ago and linked up with Box Hill and South Croydon.

The talented midfielder has cracked three VFL games this year but has been a regular in the Bulldogs’ 8-2 start to the Eastern Football League season, earning the Round 10 nomination for the Division 1 and 2 Young Gun Award.

McCormick said he was hopeful Kilpatrick would get more opportunities in the state league.

“He’s been in and out of Box Hill and been back with us for a little while because he can’t get into Box Hill like a number of the others,” McCormick said.

“He is hoping and so am I, to an extent, obviously wanting him to get that opportunity but I think the way Box Hill is looking at the moment, he may not in the near future. You just never know.”

McCormick listed Kilpatrick’s classy disposal, quick hands and his ability to hit the scoreboard as his best attributes.

“He can win his own ball when needed but he gives us polish and class on the outside,” he said.

“Moving away from home, not living near the club, it was a little bit hard for him to hang around a lot but he’s really starting to and enjoying that.”

Stevens is joined by Whitehorse Pioneers’ Daniel Tallariti, who is this week’s Division 3 and 4 nominee.

In just his third senior game, Tallariti was Whitehorse’s best player in the five-point win over Coldstream.
