Moorabbin Kangaroos president Muhammad Kiki says there was “nothing personal” behind the sacking of senior coach Steve Ralph last Thursday.

The Division 4 Southern league club sacked Ralph about 48 hours before their seniors and reserves played in preliminary finals.

The Roos finished second in both grades, behind only South Mornington – which has a 33-1 record this season.

A committee meeting was called the Wednesday night before the Roos’ final game, resulting in Ralph’s sacking.

Ralph was informed Thursday and did not attend training that night.

Kiki says there was nothing personal and praised Ralph for his contribution to the club.

“We parted ways, it was nothing personal, he has done an exceptional job for us over the last 18 months,” he said.

“He was a great individual, he has done a lot for our football club but unfortunately it didn’t work out in the end.”

Ralph declined to comment but said he was proud of his efforts at the Roos.
