Doveton Eagles coach Rob Marks said “it was time to go”.
Marks and the Southern league Division 4 club have parted ways effective immediately.
“My son is still there coaching the twos and my wife is still there as the trainer but I am looking to move back to Horsham,” he said.
“I might have a year off coaching and have a look back home.
“It’s just work and family commitments; the committee and life members asked me to stay for a couple years because of what we’ve achieved.
“It’ll be sad to go but I always tell the boys that family and work always comes first.”
Doveton Eagles won six games under Marks during his 18-month stint.
Marks said he was going to miss coaching.
“I love the camaraderie and the mateship and teaching these young fellas the fundamentals of football and what it’s about,” he said.
“It’s not about kicking down the line and stuff like that, there’s a whole new dimension to football so I hope they’ve learnt that.
“We’re leaving on good terms.”
