Zak Roscoe’s ascend is showing no bounds.

The Cranbourne star was once again pivotal in the Eagles’ commanding win on Saturday, gathering 28 possessions and booting five goals.

The home side bounced back from defeat with a strong 14.14 (98) to 5.5 (35) win over Springvale Districts.

Cranbourne coach Steve O’Brien said Roscoe’s start to the season, which has seen him regularly collect 30 disposals and average 2.7 goals a game, is a result of a superb pre-season.

“He’s taken his game to another level this year, there’s no doubt about that,” he said.

“I think a lot of that is the off-field stuff that he does, the work that he puts in off the field.

“He’s always been a good player, he’s just taken it to another level, the pre-season he did before Christmas down at Casey obviously gave him a great base.

“He’s been able to work so hard for us which has been fantastic.”

In addition to Roscoe’s outing, O’Brien was pleased with his side’s ferocity around the contest on Saturday, accounting contested ball control to their first half dominance.

“It was important, after a loss you always want to bounce back with a strong performance – we were able to do that which was very pleasing,” he said.

“I thought our pressure, that was the thing we really focused on, we really brought our pressure, and we got a lot of scores from turnover… that was our main focus on the day.

“Contested ball is always number one in footy so it’s a constant focus for us.”
