The Eagles have swooped in on three key recruits.
Perennial Southern league contender Cranbourne is set to unveil Lewis Robbins, Kyle Lanham and Damon Krake as its latest additions for season 2025.
Robbins is a 206cm ruckman, Lanham is an exciting hybrid forward and Krake is a classy outside midfielder.
Lanham is crossing from Scottsdale in Tasmania while Krake and Robbins are returning from the Northern Territory.
Robbins played Coates Talent League for Gippsland Power this year and has spent the Victorian off season playing for Nightcliff in the Northern Territory.
Eagles coach Angelo Soldatos said they targeted Robbins and Krake individually and hit the jackpot when they discovered both players were on the move together.
“They’re moving to Melbourne, they want to have a crack at challenging themselves with some good footy,” he said.
“We identified that we were small, I don’t think it’s a massive secret, that’s where Lewis came into things and we needed some outside run and kickers as well.
“We got lucky that they’re mates moving in together so they’ve fit a couple of needs together.”
Lanham, meanwhile, adds some much-needed firepower to the Eagles inside 50.
He’s been a regular goal-kicker in Tasmania, highlighted by a 45-goal state league season in 2018.
“He’s got rave reviews and is a super guy,” Soldatos said.
“We’re lucky enough to have a relationship with Scottsdale and all we kept hearing was ‘really exciting, launches at the footy’.
“He’s kicked 30 or more goals basically every year, played interleague last year, kicked two goals in the rep game as well – he knows how to hit the scoreboard.
“He’s high-energy, which for us is going to be really important.”
The latest trio join six who are either new or returning to the nest.
Anthony Fischer, Cal Pola, Ben Pola, Luke Morrell, Adrian Russo and Jake Hill will all pull on the blue and gold next season.
Soldatos is really happy with how the Eagles are tracking as they turn towards a new era.
“I have been really happy, I have walked into a good footy club which has been set up and well coached for a long time,” he said.
“The way we’re moving the ball, the way we’re defending, they’re just embracing it and I couldn’t be happier.”
Cranbourne kicks off its season against old-rival and Southern league newcomer Narre Warren on April 5.
