Former Melbourne and Collingwood AFL footballer Lynden Dunn will miss the next three weeks of Southern league footy.
Dunn, who is the Caulfield Bears playing coach in Division 2 of the SFNL, was charged with “intentionally engaging in rough conduct against an opponent” at the league’s tribunal.
The incident occurred in round 1, with the Bears going down to an undermanned Endeavour Hills by 28 points at Koornang Park.
It is understood the incident occurred off the ball, with Endeavour Hills coach Matt Peake describing it as “random and weird” while praising Dunn’s character off the field.
The match was otherwise played in good spirits, and Dunn booted three goals for Caulfield.
Dunn is now in his third season as Caulfield’s playing coach. The Bears reached finals under the 37-year-old last season, but fell to Hampton Park in the elimination final.
Across his AFL career, Dunn managed 198 games and kicked 99 goals for Melbourne and Collingwood.
The Caulfield Bears have been contacted for comment.
