New Reservoir coach Jason Hamilton is under no illusions as to the size of the challenge at Reservoir but that is exactly what attracted him to take the job in the first place.

The challenge of reviving Reservoir is what drew Jason Hamilton to the job.
The former Braybrook man is under no illusion as to the scale of the task, the Mustangs having claiming just one win in the three years since returning from recess.
However, the new coach is looking forward to turning the NFL Division 3 club’s on and off-field fortunes around.

“It’s a massive job but I think the club is going in the right direction,” he said.
“I like going to clubs that are battling away, I think it brings the best out in me, I love a challenge.
“I’ve signed a two-year deal and we’ve got plans for three to five years to get us playing finals again and achieving the ultimate goal.
“It’s not going to happen overnight but we’ve got the right people in the right spots to put in the hard work.
“I’m quietly confident we can get some wins on the board next year.”
Hamilton takes the coaching reins from Peter Bartle, who served as interim coach after David Nelson was removed mid-season.
A coach at South Morang in 2009, Hamilton has also had coaching stints in Tasmania and most recently at WRFL club Braybrook.
Recruiting is now the priority for the club as it looks to secure a core group of players that will lead its future.
Hamilton believed young players who wanted to establish themselves as 100-game players would fit perfectly with the club’s plan.
“The challenge for me is get this club up and running, start winning some games and being competitive,” he said.
“To field two teams like they did this year and only had to double up once — in the last game — it just shows the quality of the people down there.
“I’m hoping to bring three or four guys in with some experience and a couple of young guys on board, so we’ll have an influx of five or six guys that walk straight into the senior team.
“We don’t want to recruit one or two superstars, we want six to 10 quality players that are good consistent senior footballers.”
Hamilton is the first Division 3 coaching announcement of the off-season.
Mernda has since appointed Robert Fletcher for 2020, while Heidelberg West and Old Eltham Collegians are still to fill the top job.
