NFNL: Heath Scotland appointed Bundoora’s new coach

Bundoora’s new era has officially arrived with a 2023 premiership coach appointed as the new senior mentor.

The new era at Bundoora has officially arrived.

Former Carlton and Collingwood player Heath Scotland has been unveiled as the club’s new senior coach for the 2024 season.

Scotland replaces Michael Ryan after four years in charge at Yulong Reserve, guiding the Bulls to back-to-back NFNL Division 1 grand finals.

In 2023, Scotland guided Deer Park to the EDFL Division 1 premiership during the Lions’ first season in the competition after making the move from the WRFL.

Bundoora president Paul King said there several factors that made Scotland a standout candidate.

“We are thrilled to attract such a quality person in Heath Scotland,” he said.

“Heath has had an exceptional AFL career and transitioned to coaching upon his retirement.

“He has extensive coaching experience having held AFL/VFL assistant and development roles and more recently was the architect of multiple premierships in local football.

“We are excited to have someone of Heath’s calibre working with our coaches and players and believe his knowledge of the game and his commitment to development will be ideal for our club.

“We welcome Heath and his family to the club.”

The announcement was well received on social media with one person declaring “you don’t get better signings than this, well done Bundoora – you are in good hands”.

Scotland himself thanked club supporters for their messages of support.

“Thank you to all at Bundoora FNC my family and I are very excited to be a part of such a great club,” he wrote.

“I can’t wait to get down, meet everybody and get stuck into it. Bring on 2024.”
