Whittlesea is set to lose one of the best young players in the Northern Football League.

Promising utility Zach Molloy has lodged a clearance to join Southern league club Port Melbourne Colts ahead of the June 30 clearance deadline.

Molloy, the brother of Collingwood AFLW gun Chloe, had a breakout season in 2021 and was rewarded with a Collingwood VFL contract.

The 20-year-old has played two games for Whittlesea and two VFL games for the Magpies this season.

His exit would be the fourth high-profile departure since the Eagles sacked premiership coach Blair Harvey.

Boom recruits Jarrad Waite (Benalla), David Mennen (Diamond Creek) and Cam Wild (East Keilor) have already left.

Crossing from VAFA power St Kevin’s, Waite was appointed as an assistant coach and loomed as a major goalkicking threat.

However, the former Carlton and North Melbourne star played just three games and kicked seven goals due to injury and was suspended for two games in his final appearance.

Mennen played all nine games in the first half of the season and impressed off half-back.

After having his clearance approved the former Benalla player made his debut for NFL Division 2 finals contender Diamond Creek in Saturday’s win over Thomastown.

Meanwhile, Collingwood VFL-listed utility Wild was named best-on-ground in his debut for Essendon District high-flyer East Keilor on Saturday.

Brothers Jake and Mitch remain on Whittlesea’s list with a week left before the deadline.

Meanwhile, fellow Division 1 club North Heidelberg has also been dealt a major blow.

The Bulldogs have approved a clearance for ruckman Anthony Daw to join Golden Rivers league club Moulamein.

After an impressive maiden campaign at Shelley Reserve in 2021, Daw has been rarely sighted this season, playing just two games.

Young tall Zach Reichert has been restricted to five appearances and the Bulldogs have had to otherwise rely on Kieren Jaksic and Nick O’Neill.

The Bulldogs had a clearance for Reservoir’s Dylan Cornford denied.

Elsewhere, West Preston-Lakeside premiership defender Nick Robortella has a clearance pending to join Moonee Valley in the Essendon District.

After playing all 10 matches last season the former Coburg VFL player hasn’t featured at senior or reserves level this season for the Roosters.
