The Bundoora veteran will turn 43 in April next year, but remains one of the most dangerous forwards in NFL Division 1.

Moorcroft kicked 49 goals in 18 matches this season, taking his tally with the Bulls to 527 majors from 154 games.

Bundoora coach Ricky Dyson said Moorcroft had indicated he hoped to play on in 2019 and still had “the fire in the belly”.

“Talking to Gary a couple of weeks ago, he said that he did want to go one more year,” Dyson said.

“He’s the sort of player, you leave the decision in his hands.

“If he wants to go on and he feels like he can perform for another year like he has this year, then he will.”

Dyson praised Moorcroft’s impact this year as he contributed three goals or more in 10 matches.

“He changed the way he plays,” Dyson said.

“He works his backside off behind the scenes to get his body right.

“He recovers, he does the extra work, he goes to the gym more than anyone else.

“He does extra boxing sessions. He’s the ultimate professional and if anyone could go on another year, it’s definitely him.”

There will be at least one change to the Bulls’ team which bowed out of finals against West Preston-Lakeside after Peter Hood announced his retirement.

After spending seven years at Fitzroy Stars, Hood crossed to Yulong Park this season.

“He had a brilliant year and we are thankful to him. He’s given our football club so much,” Dyson said.

Dyson conceded Bundoora had fallen short of expectations after its premiership defence finished at the semi-final stage.

The flag-winning coach said he would meet with Bulls officials to discuss his future in coming weeks.

“We haven’t spoken about next year as yet. Until I sit down with them I am a bit up in the air so we will wait and see,” he said.

Bundoora was blown away by Roosters star Ahmed Saad, who bagged 10 goals, in Sunday’s 18.8 (116) to 9.10 (64) result.
