Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League clubs are still waiting to hear if premierships will be awarded in the cut-short 2021 season.

They also want to know if promotion and relegation will be enforced.

It’s understood AFL South East is holding a meeting on Wednesday night, with the pressing issues a priority.

Langwarrin, which was 12-1 and on top of the MPNFL Division 2 ladder when the season was canned, wants to know which division it will be playing in next year so it can plan its recruiting accordingly.

“Give us some information. Where are we at, what’s going on?” Langwarrin co-coach Josh Beard said.

“If we are Div 2 we will really look to shore up the list and look after our kids.

“If we go to Div 1 we feel like we’ve probably got to add an A grader or a key position player and strengthen up to be competitive in that level.

“It’s hard when you don’t know.

“Our season only finished two weeks ago. Sides who weren’t in the five have been recruiting for seven weeks.

“They know exactly where they’re at and they can start.”

Beard said he was unsure if Langwarrin would be awarded the 2021 premiership.

“The word we’re getting is very mixed,” he said.

“Sometimes you hear, yep, they’re going to award premierships and do promotion and relegation.

“And then the next week someone says no promotion relegation…nothing. It’s all just here say at the moment. We are all just guessing.”

Beard said a premiership would be fitting reward for Langwarrin, which was two games clear of Mornington.

“It would be nice for the club to be acknowledged for having a fantastic season and being in a position to win a premiership,” he said.

“People say it wouldn’t mean as much and that’s a fact, it wouldn’t mean as much. But it would still mean something to a lot of people.

“It’s a tough one because I think the only way they can justify promotion (and) relegation is to award premierships.”

Pines was on the bottom of the Division 1 ladder when the season was cancelled and will be eagerly awaiting a decision on promotion and relegation.

Bonbeach was in top of the Division 1 ladder.
