Karingal coach Luke Forsyth says “the cold, hard facts” prove his side beat Chelsea by a point on Saturday.

And he has video evidence to back it up.

The Bulls and Seagulls played out a thrilling draw, with scores locked on 9.7 (61) apiece.

But Forsyth said he discovered Chelsea was given an extra point while he watched a replay of the game as he did his match review on Monday.

“I was looking at the Premier Data stats and it had us winning by a point,” Forsyth said.

“So I went and watched the first quarter which was the discrepancy and somehow the umpires had given Chelsea 1.3 when we were both 1.2.

“I raised it with Sara (Burke), our president, and we both watched the first quarter — I think between us we’ve watched it seven times — to make sure we’re right.”

Karingal took its claim to AFL South East but was told the result would stand.

“The league has come back saying, ‘we agree you’ve won by a point but in the constitution it says we can’t change anything because the umpires have got together and convinced each other that it was nine points’,” Forsyth said.

Forsyth said Karingal planned to lodge an appeal with AFL Vic.

“Hopefully we’ve got the four points by Thursday,” he said.

The game could prove crucial in the run to the finals.

“Both clubs had talked it up, well, we definitely did, as an eight-point game in the context of things,” Forsyth said.

“We’re going to lodge it with AFL Vic and appeal it because it’s not like we’re going out on a limb. The cold hard facts are there, it’s in the replay. So I think we’ve got a fair leg to stand on.’’
