Luke Tapscott has decided on his next football move.
A few weeks after being sacked as coach of Sorrento, he’s applied for a clearance to his original club, Orroroo, in South Australia.
His brother Billie plays for the Kangaroos.
Tapscott’s parents are graziers in Orroroo and he played there before joining North Adelaide and attending Prince Alfred College in Adelaide as a teenager.
He was drafted by Melbourne after representing South Australia in under 16 and under 18 matches.
Tapscott’s father Jeffrey played for Orroroo and Central Augusta.
In other player movement news, reigning Frankston YCW best and fairest winner Matthew La Fontaine has been cleared to a club in Western Australia.
He decided during the recent COVID lockdown to move west for work and football opportunities and will line up with Boulder City in the Goldfields League.
La Fontaine’s departure is a blow for Frankston YCW, which is undefeated and on top of the MPNFL Division 1 ladder.
“The last season we played he won the best and fairest so he’s effectively our best player and one of the best players in the comp obviously,’’ Frankston YCW coach Paul Goonan said.
“It leaves a big hole and creates a big challenge for us.’’
Another Frankston YCW premiership star, Paul Minchington, has applied for a clearance to St Kilda City, joining former Pines players Aaron Edwards and Luke Potts.
Former St Kilda player Bailey Rice has put in a clearance to Devon Meadows, but he’s unlikely to play for the Panthers this season because he’s currently in the US.
