Gallery: Frankston YCW secures 2014 Mornington Peninsula league premiership over Mornington

Frankston YCW pipped Mornington in a photo-finish to claim its fourth Mornington Peninsula league premiership in five years back in 2014. We have uncovered some of the unseen images from the match a decade on.

“We held on in the end — I’m not quite sure how,’’ Frankston YCW premiership coach Scott Mathers said at the time.

The Stonecats watched their 27-point lead quickly disappear as Mornington ran home in the last quarter of the 2014 MPNFL Peninsula grand final.

Mathers’ men eventually held the Doggies off, 8.15 (63) to 8.9 (57), at a sun-drenched Frankston Park.

The triumph was the Stonecats’ fourth in five years and the start of what went on to be a four-peat of premierships.
