A second Mornington Peninsula club has been found guilty of breaching the player points cap.

Following Division One club Frankston Bombers last week, Karingal, which sits six points in outright second on the MPFNL Division Two ladder, has been docked percentage from its Round 13 clash with Mornington.

The Bulls have not lost premiership points as they lost the match 7.7 (49) to 10.8 (68).

The Bulls’ score for that match has since been wiped.

Karingal was of the belief the points value of the player involved had fallen from 2022.

While disappointed, Karingal coach Luke Forsyth says the Bulls won’t let the slip-up derail their season.

“Yeah it’s not going to halt us, we will put it behind us, it’s just frustrating,” he said.

“We’ve put our list together based on his points and he has gone back up to where he was at last year.

“It won’t halt what we’re doing on field, we will carry that momentum into the weekend but it’s just frustrating that one of our under-19s can’t be a part of our finals campaign unless an injury occurs.”

By not having a junior program in recent years, the player, whose family is an integral part of the club, had to play his junior football elsewhere, therefore increasing his points upon return.

After a similar issue impacted the Bombers, Forsyth says he would like an adjustment to be made to the system to make playing young players easier.

“It’s not just about this year, there’s still room for him to develop in the under-19s, they’re always around the senior group,” he said.

“I would like the league to do something that doesn’t impact these kids’ development, we want these kids playing senior footy, they’re the future of our clubs.

“It feels like at the moment that there’s an obstacle and we’re making it harder for them to play than easier.”

Karingal faces Pearcedale, Tyabb and Crib Point in the final three matches of the home and away season.
