MPNFL: Seaford signs ruckman Macklin Raine

Seaford believes it will have the best ruckman in MPNFL Division 2 next season after signing Macklin Raine.
The 23-year-old joins the Tigers after stints with Frankston YCW (including the 2017 premiership), the Frankston Dolphins in the VFL and Highett in Southern league.
Seaford football manager Paul Kennedy said he fits perfectly into the club’s plan to field a young, energetic side.
“We like the fact that he’s 23,’’ Kennedy said.
“And with what we want to do in the next couple of years — bring in a lot of youngsters and develop a young, fast team — to have a ruckman at that age who can play good footy and who the midfielders can get around, that’s why we did it.
“The age was a big factor for us.’’
Seaford will return to RF Miles Reserve in 2021 and Kennedy says the “joint will be humming’’.
The Tigers plan to be a nursery for young players, powered by enthusiasm and leg speed.
Kennedy said Raine will lead the way.
“If he can get back to playing his best footy that he was when he was at YC and even a couple of years before when he was playing TAC, we think he’s going to be the best ruckman in Division 2,’’ Kennedy said.
“And we don’t plan to stay in Division 2 all that long and it will be good to see him go up against the big boppers in Division 1 because that’s our plan.’’
