Zac Vansittart says a new voice will reinvigorate Seaford.
The 36-year-old has revealed this will be his last season as Tigers senior coach, citing family reasons.
He informed the club last week that he wouldn’t be reapplying for the role and he told the playing group on Tuesday night.
“I’m looking forward to just spending the weekends with the family a bit more,” Vansittart said.
“I told the playing group I didn’t want it to be seen in a negative light at all.
“The committee has been nothing but supportive of me.
“I know we haven’t had the wins we wanted this year but I think we’re still heading in the right direction.
“We’ve got some young talent and we just need to add a couple of pieces to that. I do believe we’re on track.
“Where I am at the moment with a young family I’m going to find it hard to give it the time and effort that’s required to be a senior coach.
“So it was just a decision more than anything.”
Vansittart is in his fifth year as Seaford coach and Tigers football manager Paul Kennedy praised him for his efforts in helping to develop the club’s wealth of young talent.
Kennedy said Vansittart’s decision to not reaaply allows the club to begin its coaching hunt.
“We’ve got a really strong vision of our next five to 10 years,” Kennedy said.
“The Seaford coaching position should be one of the best jobs in the MPFNL.”
Vansittart will coach Seaford in its remaining nine games this season and wants the 2-7 Tigers to finish strongly.
“I’m still fully committed. I said to the boys last night we can still get lots out of the season,” he said.
“I think our reserves can push…and our under 19s haven’t lost a game and our seniors over the next month have some real winnable games and we get some guys back this week after the bye.
“We’ll look to improve our ladder position but I think with a young group there’s still lots of improvement left in some of the guys to make them better footballers so there’s still plenty left in the year.
“We’re not just going through the motions.’’
