First-up from a spell, Jarrad Grant sprinted well on Saturday.

The former Western Bulldogs and Gold Coast Suns forward was razor sharp as he kicked six goals to help the Frankston Bombers beat Dromana by points, 18.12 (120) to7.7 (49).

Grant hadn’t played for a month after serving a two-week suspension and he showed no signs of rust as he combined with former Richmond player Jake Batchelor (two goals) and youngster Liam Wishart (four goals) in the Bombers forward line.

“Jarrad’s had two suspensions I think and both have been since he’s been back at local level,’’ Frankston Bombers coach Beau Muston said.

“He trained really strongly over the past couple of weeks.

“To be honest I was a bit surprised that he could come back in and have pretty good touch straight away.’’

Grant is enjoying a splendid season, with 39 goals in 12 games.

Frankston Bombers were without star forward Khan Haretuku, who had a family matter in NSW, but Batchelor was a worthy replacement making his fifth appearance of the season.

Small forward Wishart, a Frankston Rovers product, provided a spark near goals.

“He kicked straight and did well defensively as well,’’ Muston said of Wishart.

Josh Chapman played his second senior game of the season, while Harrison Prior, Jason Kingsbury, Sam Fox and Alex Harnett were also named in the best players as the Bombers rushed to a 30-point lead at quarter-time and went on with it.

It was a vital win for the Frankston Bombers, who are in fifth spot with four games to go.

“We were happy with our performance,’’ Muston said.

“We’ve been scratching the surface a little bit with our consistency but it was probably the first time we’ve dished it up to a level that we were really pleased with.

“We’ll gain a lot of confidence out of it.’’
