CRIB Point has enlisted the help of Pines premiership coach Paddy Swayn as it looks to bounce back from a testing period.
Swayn will address a Cribby club meeting on Wednesday night when all players past and present are encouraged to attend, “even if only a show of support and rally to the cause’’.
Crib Point has begun advertising for a new coach after Nathan Johns resigned recently. Johns has since been appointed senior coach at Belgrave Football Netball Club.
Former Hastings premiership player Jason Conlin has been appointed as interim coach with support from Andrew Wisken and Jared Newton.
The Magpies are taking a positive approach.
“Whilst we wish Nathan all the best, we view this as an opportunity, not a setback,’’ a club statement read.
“It allows a chance to galvanise and focus on our priorities as a club. It allows others with the skills to come forward to help enable us to achieve our vision of being a club of destination.
It will not be easy. It will take work, effort and commitment…We have the strategies but it requires people to commit and really care. It involves some degree of passion and reimagining our club culture.’’
Crib Point is also offering cash incentives to club members who find recruits. The ‘Bring a Mate’ campaign offers a cash prize.
Crib Point finished on the bottom of the MPNFL Division 2 ladder this year with one win. Young gun Ned Shannon won Crib Point’s senior B&F.
The closing date for coaching applications is Friday, November 9 and the Magpies hope to
announce a new coach at their annual general meeting on November 14.
