Pearcedale is again looking to secure a marquee player for a one-off game this year, with Barry Hall and Brendon Goddard possibilities.
Both have played a cameo game with the Dales in recent years.
“We’re trying to (get a marquee player),” Pearcedale coach Boris Hamilton said on Tuesday.
“We were discussing that last night, actually.
“We’re not a hundred percent sure who. They have mentioned Barry Hall again but I don’t think they’ve got to the point where they’ve contacted him to see if he’s interested.”
Hamilton said the Dales wanted a certain type of marquee player.
“We will try and target a key forward or a key bigger bloke who can hopefully win us the game and kick a few goals,” he said.
“They mentioned Brendon Goddard again, too.”
Pearcedale kicked off pre-season training last week with 50 on the track, including several recruits.
Decorated midfielder Kyle Van Der Pluym, who won a best and fairest at Elsternwick last season, is a key addition.
He’s also played at Tooradin and Stony Creek and boasts two league medals and several club best and fairests.
“He buys in,” Hamilton said of Van Der Pluym.
“He’s mates with a couple of the boys who’ve come across from Cranbourne.
“He had a good year last year. He’s pretty tough at the footy plus we get experience and that’s something we really need.”
MPNFL 2020: RED HILL SET FOR RIGOROUS PREPARATION
Pearcedale’s other recruits include Chris Booking, a midfielder from Mordialloc, Jeremy Daniels from Pines and Langwarrin’s Bayde Mate.
“We’ve got a couple more in the pipeline,” Hamilton said.
