MPFNL Round 1 stats: Ex-AFL star’s sublime numbers

The stats stars for Saturday Round 1 matches can be revealed after an exciting opening weekend of MPFNL action.

He had a blinder first up for Seaford.

Ex-AFL Saint Jack Lonie racked up a league-high 39 disposals, including 15 contested possessions (equal league best), in the Division 2 clash with Hastings on Saturday.

Premier Data stats reveal Lonie, playing in the midfield, also had seven inside 50s and 10 groundball gets…for a total of 143 ranking points.

Elsewhere, former Melbourne and St Kilda midfielder Dean Kent — looking fit and keen — was in everything for Devon Meadows, with 33 disposals, eight tackles and 10 marks for an MPFNL-high 163 ranking points.

Blake Mullane had 10 clearances for Frankston YCW.

Kent’s Panthers teammate, league medal winner Nick Battle, also ran hot, with 37 touches, 15 contested disposals and nine clearances.

In the same game, Pearcedale’s Luke Settineri had 15 tackles to comfortabbly lead the league in that department, four more than Crib Point’s Ryan Odell.

Devon Meadows ruckman Riley Simmons, in his first game since crossing from St Kilda City, had the most hit outs, 39, to help set up the Panthers victory against Pearcedale.

Hastings hard nut Steven Robb led the one-percenters count across the MPFNL with 10, helping to ignite the Blues to a rousing 53-point win over Seaford.

In Division 1, Tim Mcgenniss made an excellent return to Langwarrin, gathering 38 disposals, while Kangaroos teammates Zach Andrewartha (36) and Josh Bateman (35) also got plenty of the ball.

In the same game, Frankston YCW captain and Shade medallist Blake Mullane had a league-best 10 clearances as the Stonecats got on top of Langy after quarter time.
