Former Collingwood star Travis Cloke has agreed to play for the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League club on Saturday, April 13 when they tackle local rival Somerville at Bunguyan Reserve.

Tyabb president Mark Brady is hoping for good weather and a big crowd — and a successful Cloke cameo.

“He’s trying to move down to the peninsula, he’s looking at properties down here,’’ Brady said.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he plays a few more games, not with us, but maybe one or two other clubs in the next couple of years.’’

Cloke, who kicked 441 goals in 246 games for the Magpies, played nine games with Hurstbridge in the Northern league last season, booting 21 goals.

He looked fit and strong when he tried on a Yabbies jumper, handed to him by Tyabb coach Aaron Pacey, last week.

Cloke was honoured with life membership at Collingwood last month.

During his career he won a Copeland trophy, a premiership and a couple of All-Australian jumpers and for a long time was the best contested-marking player in the game.

The clubs will be playing for the Bungower Shield.

Former AFL star Brendan Fevola will play with Hastings in the same league this season.

Tyabb faces Fevola’s Hastings in Round 1 of the MPNFL Division 2 campaign on Sunday, April 7, six days before Cloke is scheduled to make his one-off appearance.
