Brendan Fevola will have a former Richmond big man alongside him in the Hastings forward line next season.
Todd Elton, who played 10 games for the Tigers between 2012-17, has signed with the MPNFL’s Blues — setting up potentially the MPNFL’s most potent attack.
The 25-year-old spent last season with the Frankston Dolphins in the VFL.
Hastings coach Rick Ferraro said Elton was a significant addition.
“He’s that one more A-Grader that I wanted to get,” Ferraro said.
“We will have Toddy at centre half-forward and then have hopefully Fev at full-forward.
“But you never know how many games Fev is going to play so it’s always good to have that second option as well.
“The best thing about having Toddy is the ability to have (Paul) Rogasch up one end and Toddy down the other end so it gives us a bit more stability as well. So, structurally it will help us out.”
Elton, 197cm, had his best season for Richmond in 2017, playing six of the first 10 rounds at AFL level before a shoulder injury hit in round 11.
He was surprised to be delisted at the end of the ‘17 season, believing he was in his prime and had more to offer at league level.
Elton played junior football for three clubs, Tyabb, Somerville and the Frankston Dolphins, and played TAC Cup football for the Dandenong Stingrays.
His brother Jarryd will also line-up with Hastings next season.
