The Central Highlands Football League league is investigating an incident which took place during Learmonth’s four-point loss at home in seniors to Clunes last Saturday.

This masthead understands a Learmonth player was stretchered off in the third quarter during the clash and did not return after what is alleged to be an off the ball incident.

He’s believed to have suffered concussion as a result of the incident.

While there were no reported incidents from the umpires post-game, Learmonth has asked the CHFL to investigate.

The Lakies have decided to pursue the incident, putting in the referral before the deadline on Tuesday morning.

“They’ve put in an incident referral report,” CHFL administrator Gerard Ryan said.

“They’ve requested it to be looked into.

“So we’ll go through the process according to what the AFL national community football policy handbook requires and work our way through it.”

The CHFL declined to comment on what was being investigated or who was involved but confirmed the incident took place in the senior game.

The league said the matter could take weeks to investigate what happened and for potential suspensions to be handed down.

The initial investigation will be done by the league but if an independent investigator becomes involved, to gain more information, it could take 19 days for an outcome to happen.

It will take 10 days for the investigator to find all the information and provide an outcome and nine days for the tribunal to get involved if a suspension is handed down.

Learmonth was contacted but president Jim Ford declined to comment on the incident or the referral.
