DISPOSALS – TOP 10

Lachlan Johns (Vermont) 92

Kyle Martin (Noble Park) 88

Jack Mahon (Doncaster) 85

James Appleby (Doncaster East) 82

Simon White (Doncaster East) 72

Robin Nahas (North Ringwood) 71

Shaun Cross (Balwyn) 71

Returning Noble Park defender Ryan Morrison has found plenty of the ball in the opening three weeks, but he’s not the only Bull featuring prominently.

Ex-Collingwood mid Kyle Martin certainly hasn’t lost a yard after the 2020 lay-off.

There’s a reason he’s widely revered as the comp’s top player, as a prolific ball-winner with a large tank to run through the midfield and an outstanding user of the ball.

With former ‘The Recruit’ star Jack Sketcher also featuring for the Bulls, it’s not hard to see why he’s one of Moodemere St’s most important.

Division newcomer in ex-Carlton back Simon White has also enjoyed a strong start, captaining Doncaster East in its first season in the top-flight.

Meanwhile, former AFL Tiger and Kangaroo Robbie Nahas has had no problem fitting in at his new club as playing-coach.

MARKS – TOP 10

Ryan Morrison (Noble Park) 28

Simon White (Doncaster East) 24

Max Warren (South Croydon) 21

Jacob Bell (North Ringwood) 20

Liam Patterson (Blackburn) 19

Billy Schilling (North Ringwood) 19

Samuel Harte (Blackburn) 17

Thomas Forster (Balwyn) 17

Liam Scott (Noble Park) 17

James Wilsen (South Croydon) 17

Daniel Arangio (Blackburn) 17

Morrison heads the pack for marks, leaving little wonder why he’s one of the league’s premier defenders.

But he’s followed by ex-AFL pair Simon White and Max Warren.

Warren, a former North Melbourne-listed defender, won the Box Hill Hawks’ best and fairest in 2017 before linking up with South Croydon in 2019 where he slotted in seamlessly at Premier level.

Superb skills with pace to match, Warren regularly features among the Dogs’ best and expect more of the same this season.

GOALS – TOP 10

Sam Rowe (Doncaster East) 11

James Wilsen (South Croydon) 10

Jordan Lisle (Balwyn) 8

Harrison Money (Berwick) 8

Blake Pearson (Norwood) 7

Robert Mallison (South Croydon) 6

Lachlan Wynd (Rowville) 6

Rhett Jordon (Norwood) 6

Kyle Viccars (Doncaster) 6

Lachlan Johns (Vermont) 6

It’s been some start in front of the big sticks for ex-Carlton and St Kilda big man Sam Rowe at the Lions, which included a bag of eight against Doncaster in Round 2.

Hot on his heels is new Bulldog James Wilsen who’s enjoyed a solid opening after crossing from Montrose, kicking five on Anzac Day.

Ex-Port Melbourne star Jordan Lisle has slotted in seamlessly to the Tigers’ forward line, which looks to be one of the comp’s most dangerous.

Meanwhile, Norwood pair Blake Pearson and Rhett Jordon have been key contributors to their club’s flawless start to the 2021 campaign, yet to see a defeat.

Pearson is a noted goalkicker, so expect to see a bit of him through the goal tally this season, having come from a decorated career with Port Melbourne.

TACKLES – TOP 10

Nicholas Gray (Blackburn) 26

Jason Read (Blackburn) 21

Gavin Low (Blackburn) 13

Jackson Green (Doncaster East) 13

Jake Gains (Noble Park) 13

New South Croydon captain Liam Cox leads this category comfortably in his club’s 2-1 start to the season as it hunts a fourth consecutive finals campaign.

But Blackburn’s high-pressure game also stands out here, with the 2019 runner-up hellbent on going one better this season, and Gray, Daniher, Doreian and Read all a major part of that.

INSIDE 50s – TOP 10

Lachlan Johns (Vermont) 25

Kyle Martin (Noble Park) 24

Mackenzie Doreian (Blackburn) 20

Jack Sholakis (Doncaster East) 20

Jack Mahon (Doncaster) 18

Thomas Maloney (Norwood) 17

Trent Thomas (Berwick) 16

Jayden Cass (South Croydon) 15

Ben Daniher (Blackburn) 15

Jordan Walker (South Croydon) 15

Aaron Ceravolo (Doncaster East) 15

It’s the two premier midfielders in the comp at the top here. Dual Eagles premiership captain Johns stakes a claim in most stat categories, such is his potency with and without the ball, and Martin, as mentioned earlier, is as revered as they come.

Young gun Mackenzie Doreian is fast becoming one of the standout weapons of the division, highlighted by a match-winning goal against Doncaster East in Round 1.

Kyle Martin has been consistently good for more than a decade.
