Chirnside Park has landed a package of players from neighbouring club Mooroolbark as it looks to rebound from a disappointing 2018.
The Panthers endured a winless season and suffered eight triple-figure beltings in a torrid campaign.

But new coach Dave Newlands has signed a bevy of players from Mooroolbark as he attempts to turn Chirnside Park’s fortunes around.
Midfielder Ben Slattery and experienced ruckman Grattan Stephens headline the additions, while Josh Clavant, Ben Higgins and Jonathon Egan have also crossed from Heights Reserve.
Stephens played Division 1 football at South Croydon before joining Mooroolbark in 2016.
Robert Johns has also linked up with Chirnside Park from the Mustangs after having a year away from football in 2018.
The group are among 20 new signings for next year as the Panthers look to end their long losing streak, which dates back to Round 18, 2017.
Newlands said his connections at Mooroolbark, where he served as an assistant under Paris Harvie for four years, helped secure the group of players.
“Basically they were always interested in me coaching senior football, whether it be at Mooroolbark or somewhere else,” Newlands said.
“Once they found out I was heading across to Chirnside Park, I think it was more just to have a run around under myself.
“They obviously liked my coaching style and how I went about it so they were pretty keen to come across.”
Yarra Junction pair Shane Hall and Heath Chamberlain are also among the signings, while Blackburn under-19s player Declan Bird will add to the key position stocks.
Defender Tim Gover has also returned to the club after spending last season away from football, while tall half-forward Bailey Klewer has transferred from Knox.
Newlands said the signings had Chirnside Park tracking in the right direction.
“Where they finished last year I don’t think reflects what we can bring to the table for next year,” he said.
“I think it will be a challenge but it’s a challenge the whole club is ready to take together.
“In saying that, it is probably the right time to make the change and get the new recruits and existing talent that is there and have a good year together.”
