FOR the second consecutive week, Bayswater fell short by a couple of kicks against a Division 2 premiership favourite to leave it in a fight for a finals berth.
After a 10-point defeat against ladder-leading Lilydale last weekend, Bayswater fell to a 7-5 record on Saturday after an 18-point loss to Doncaster East at Zerbes Reserve.
Bayswater trailed by 34 points at halftime before threatening to pull off a come-from-behind win, only to fall to a 16.6 (102) to 12.12 (84) defeat.

EFL POWERHOUSE COULD MISS FINALS
Bayswater coach Paul McCormack said his side would take positives from the result after a strong showing in the second half.
“I think we found something really positive (on Saturday), after the game I said to the boys I was really proud of them they way they stuck in there, but more than that, how daring we were,” McCormack said.
“They all agreed ... it’s more fun when you share the ball, it’s more liberating when there are some good passages of play.
“We got something out of the game, which is good.”
The Waters sit in fourth on the Division 2 game but could build some momentum in the coming weeks with games against bottom four sides Croydon, Mooroolbark and Mitcham.
“It’s still June, July so hopefully if we can get a bit of continuity, that’s what we need, and our second half, it’s probably the best half we’ve played all year,” McCormack said.
“We started to run the ball ... we had some passages of play that were really good and it really helped the likes of Jack Callanan and those guys up forward because we started to bring it in quickly.
“It’s one of those years, it’s still open and I think for us it is about getting that really good continuity of game style so we’ve got to get that right.”
