East Keilor will now have a new coach in 2023.
Cougars president Pat Christofi confirmed to Leader on Monday afternoon that the club had changed its plans for next season.
Tim Bongetti has been stood down as coach just weeks after it was announced he would be moving from a playing coach role to a full-time coaching role.
Christofi said he was thankful for the service Bongetti had given to the club during its first Premier Division season since 2006 after winning promotion last year.
“This was a football based decision for our club,” he said.
“We’re looking for someone more experienced and someone who is able to put more hours into the role.
“We are looking for someone with the capabilities of bringing fresh faces to the club to add to our young and talented group.
“We’re looking for more of a full time coach. The next person to be appointed will be expected to run the entire football program from seniors down to the juniors.
“As a coach what Tim did this year has been great and we can’t forget the work he has put in.
“I’d like to wish Tim nothing but the best for the future.”
The Cougars won plenty of admirers this year after pushing for a finals berth but eventually fell short.
They finished fifth on the ladder with a 11-7 record with wins against premiers Strathmore and Pascoe Vale in the opening half of the season among the highlights.
The club also held its best and fairest night at the weekend with ruckman Chris Stewart claiming the award.
Zen Christofi finished second with Lockie Rayner one place further back.
The new coaching advertisement can be seen on East Keilor’s social media channels.
