Two sporting clubs in Melbourne’s northwest have hit out at “baseless claims” against one organisation’s president, saying it highlights a much broader issue of online bullying.

East Keilor cricket and football clubs took to social media on Monday night to hit out at the posts on online forum, BigFooty, which have now been deleted.

The BigFooty forum allows users to post under a username which doesn’t make it clear as to who the person is.

“East Keilor Cricket Club is deeply disappointed by a recent false accusation made online against our club president,” East Keilor CC said in a statement.

“These baseless claims are hurtful and damaging — not only to the individual targeted but to the entire club community.

“This incident highlights a broader and serious issue: online bullying. At EKCC, we have zero tolerance for bullying — towards our kids, families, and volunteers.

“Our club is built on the dedication of volunteers — people who give their time, energy, and heart to create a safe and supportive environment.

“No one signs up to be disrespected, lied about, or targeted — especially not hardworking volunteers like our president.

“This behaviour is unacceptable and goes against everything we stand for.”

East Keilor Football Club hit out at the post.

“While we are no strangers to public discussion and acknowledge that commentary, positive or critical is a part of community sport, this particular post crossed an unacceptable line,” the club said.

“The content did not focus solely on club matters but instead singled out and targeted an individual associated with our club, the personal attack included is entirely false and appears to be a deliberate attempt to cause harm.”
