Harley Reid’s final game for Tongala won’t be forgotten anytime soon.
The likely number one pick in this year’s AFL Draft gave his hometown supporters something to smile about as he put on a show during the Blues’ 45-point win over Echuca United on Saturday.
Named among the better players, Reid recorded 31 disposals along with three goals as he lit up the Murray league stage once more.
Tongala football manager Paul Cox said Reid showed why he is a class above.
While there is the possibility of another game on August 12 against Numurkah due to a Coates Talent League bye, Cox admitted it was unlikely.

“He loved it,” he said.
“When he kicked a goal, he grabbed the jumper and his heart and soul is with the club.
“He was a bit emotional after the game, he just loves playing for the club.
“We wish him all the best.”
In typical Reid fashion, he produced nine fend-offs according to the Tongala statisticians as he showed why he has been compared to Richmond superstar Dustin Martin.
“We rotated him through the midfield and then he went up forward as part of the rotation,” Cox said.
“That’s where we were going to see the best out of him.
“He kicked on after half-time and took it to pieces as you would imagine.
“He hunts the footy and even when he’s got the football he seems to hunt players trying to get him.
“The three goals he kicked were sensational. Typical H. Reid (goals) they were.”
The win was Tongala’s fourth of the season in what has become a tough year for the club.
An injury crisis has hurt the team’s chances of making the finals.
“We’ve been unlucky with injuries, we’ve had five ACL’s which has crippled the club and the depth drops off,” Cox said.
“Having Harley there put a smile on everyone’s face.
“There was a good crowd at Echuca United and everyone relished it.”
