HE’S made headlines in junior football and now Ben White is making waves in the senior ranks.

White stunned the suburban football world last year when he won an eighth straight league best and fairest award after taking home the top gong in the under-17B competition.

It completed a remarkable run of top individual honours every year since 2010, when he won the under-10s best and fairest as an underage player.

While still eligible for the under-19s, White is looking to establish himself in the seniors.

He made his debut for Bayswater at the end of last year and in just his sixth senior appearance, delivered a match-winning performance in the Round 5 win over Mooroolbark.

White was listed as the Waters’ best player to be named this week’s nominee for the Eastern Football League Division 1 and 2 Young Gun Award.

Coach Paul McCormack predicted Bayswater would not see much of White beyond 2018.

“He’ll play every game with us (in the seniors) and we won’t have him next year, he’ll be at Box Hill or Casey,” McCormack said.

“We’re already getting asked about him.”

White comes from good football stock — his father Mick played in multiple premierships at Vermont alongside his brothers.

“He’s got all the attributes, he can run a sub-10 minutes 3km, he’s a sub-three second 20m sprint, he’s as tough as they get, he would never back out of a contest,” McCormack said.

“He’s got good skills, he hits targets, makes good decisions by hand, by foot, his defensive work is phenomenal, he could bring down a buffalo, he’s an unbelievable tackler and he runs both ways.

“He’s great at stoppages, good in the air and he never fumbles on the ground, he’s got everything you want.”

White is joined by Division 3 and 4 nominee Dale Kline.

Kline made his senior debut for Forest Hill against Whitehorse Pioneers on Saturday and helped the Zebras to a 11.8 (74) to 9.11 (65) victory.
