Parkdale Vultures’ ecstasy is Mordialloc’s agony.
Vultures’ coach Owen Lalor feels the signing of ex-AFL Cat, Don and Demon Mitch Brown puts his club on the map.
Brown — who played 79 games and kicked 74 goals at AFL level — has shifted from the Bloodhounds to the Vultures.
Brown’s first season out an elite system since 2008 netted 44 goals from just 13 games.
Lalor explained why he feels it will propel his club forward.
“We’re such a young, developing club from where we’ve come from in the last couple years, one of the areas in the club we don’t have is that experience,” he said.
“We don’t have any past ex-VFL, AFL boys, we have a young group that has stuck together since 2021.
“Now we have added a really experienced guy that is going to bring a wealth of knowledge, he is obviously going to be an unbelievable player, but he is going to give the group an extra 10 percent.
“It’s just gold — a lot of our young boys will thrive from it.”
Lalor said the addition of Brown should help the “natural progression” of the Vultures.
“It’s very exciting, we’re absolutely looking to go to the next level,” he said.
“It should be a very strong aim and expectation for next season.
“You go from zero wins in 2021, seven in 2022, then this year making the finals; it’s just natural progression and development, the next step is to have a real crack at this thing.
“If we can retain 95 per cent of the list and add guys like Mitch and some others, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be aiming for success next year.”
