The big fella’s back! Marc Holt is returning to Cranbourne in a major boost for the Eagles’ 2020 prospects.

Holt kicked 1000 goals for Cranbourne in a stellar career in the Eagles’ No 7 jumper.

Seeking a new challenge, he played at Karingal this year, booting 85 goals to help the Bulls to a grand final.

But the pull of home, and the chance to finish his career in the blue and gold, has him back in the Eagles nest.

“He wanted to come back,” Cranbourne coach Steve O’Brien said.

“He just had a little girl and he just wants to finish in the Cranbourne jumper, with his little girl wearing a little Cranbourne jumper with number seven on the back.

“It will be a good ending for him when the time does come.”

O’Brien said Holt’s class and experience would be vital to the young Cranbourne list.

“Our forward line was the most inexperienced forward line going around, so to just get a bit of experience in to guide those kids and take the pressure off could do us really well,” he said.

Holt is among several Eagles players returning to the club.

Troy Tharle is back from Cora Lynn, Curtis Barker has returned from Seaford and ruckman Mitch Lindsay is returning from Pearcedale.

Cranbourne has also signed Cora Lynn running defender-wingman Rylan Smith, adding to its outside run.

“It should give us a nice balance across the field,” O’Brien said of the additions.

“There are a few more (recruits) we just can’t announce. We’re trying to do the right thing by those guys and their current clubs.”
