Police have charged a young woman from Melbourne’s outer north over an alleged hit-run in Epping, which left a young man fighting for life.

Stephanie Angrilli, 24, will front Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on May 4 for the incident which police allege left Jean-Pierre Assaad unconscious on Epping’s Cooper St, shortly before 5.30pm on January 25.

Mr Assaad was unconscious when he was transferred to Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he remained until the beginning of the week, in a serious but stable condition.

Ms Angrilli has been charged with reckless conduct endangering life, failing to give assistance after a crash and dangerous driving, among other charges.

“I’m lucky to be alive,” Mr Assaad told the Herald Sun from his hospital bed last week.

“It’s sickening that someone can just leave someone for dead like that,” Mr Assaad said.

Mr Assaad remembers nothing after he was hit, and said he “didn’t believe it” when he regained consciousness in hospital on Wednesday.

“I never have an argument on my motorbike unless they’ve done something really serious,” Mr Assaad said.

“It’s been extremely horrific.”
