Shepparton’s Shiloh Weston pleads guilty to dangerous driving charges

A Shepparton road worker considers himself “lucky” to be alive after a maniac crashed through road works while being chased by police.

A hoon led the police air wing on a broad daylight chase as he drove “erratically” through Shepparton streets to avoid being pulled over, a court has heard.

Shiloh Weston, 23, pleaded guilty in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court to charges including dangerous driving while pursued by police, refusing an oral fluid test, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving without a licence.

On April 14, 2025, about 1.45pm, police attempted to pull Weston over on St Georges Rd in Shepparton when he crossed to the wrong side of the road and accelerated.

At the intersection of St Georges and Wilmot roads he forced two cars to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

Police said Weston continued to drive dangerously through backstreets in Shepparton South before parking at a Norfolk Court address.

An unmarked police vehicle attempted to block the car but Weston was able to turn it around and speed out of the street.

Weston went to a Gale Court address and police set up road spikes which he avoided as he left the street and continued to drive “erratically”.

He was clocked doing at least 100km/h in a 50km/h zone on Isabella St where he crashed through a road works site marked by cones.

Two workers were working on the site – one only a few metres away from Weston’s car and told police he was “lucky” to have been standing off the road at that time.

After continuing to drive above the speed limit and overtaking cars on the wrong side of the road, Weston parked on Hamilton St before entering a Wilmot Rd address where police arrested him.

Weston refused to be interviewed and refused an oral fluid test.

Magistrate Simon Zebrowski said Weston could not continue to “selfishly” put himself ahead of members of the public.

“Word can go out in the Hume region that people who think they can do whatever they want to avoid police will suffer the consequences,” he said.

“It’s only a matter of time before someone is killed – an innocent person driving along, working on a road, walking a pram on a footpath – because they are cleaned up by someone who refuses to stop for police.”

Mr Zebrowski said he would have Weston assessed for a community corrections order.

Weston was remanded to return to court to be sentenced in September and has served 80 days in custody to date.
