A BRIGHTON East-based wholesaler caught peddling unsafe toys and potentially toxic cosmetics to unknowing parents has been nabbed by Consumer Affairs Victoria.
Zhenghong Mei has agreed to pay $4500 to the Victorian Consumer Law Fund, give an undertaking to recall products and refund customers after officers inspected and seized goods from his Moorabbin warehouse in September 2017.
Most of the products were sold out of FOFO Party & Pet, his store at Nellbern Rd Moorabbin.

Mei, whose company Australia Manolite Pty Ltd has its headquarters in Brighton East, was slapped with the fine after officers found items which did not meet safety or information standards.
Almost 3000 pairs of sunglasses, 62 projectile toys and more than 700 cosmetic items were among items seized.
The cosmetics did not come with a list of ingredients, “exposing consumers to dangers such as allergic reactions”.
Mei, 49, was also ordered to pay a maximum $500 to the Director of Consumer Affairs Victoria for the cost of destruction of the seized items.
He must also publish a recall notice on the company’s website, not supply certain items that are subject to a ban order, and implement a compliance program to help ensure his company does not supply, or offer to supply, any banned or unsafe product.
FOFO Party & Pet did not respond to requests for comment.
