Woman discovers she was raped while asleep by boyfriend and best friend after finding phone footage
A man and his best friend filmed themselves sexually assaulting his unconscious girfriend, with the horrified victim later discovering the footage on a phone. When sentencing both men to jail time, a judge described their crime as a “savage betrayal of trust”.

Two former high school students from Bayside who filmed themselves raping and sexually assaulting a mutual female friend have been jailed.
The male offenders, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were sentenced in the County Court to a minimum of three years and nine months and four years and nine months respectively.
The first offender, in his 20s, had been a long-term relationship with his victim.
The second offender, also in his 20s, was a close friend of the couple.

The trio would often use GHB, ecstasy and ice together while they partied at city nightclubs.
The three friends would usually sleep at one of the men’s residences after their big night outs concluded.
In May 2018, the victim made a horrible discovery while she looked through her ex-boyfriend’s phone.
She discovered several videos of the two men sexually assaulting her as she slept unresponsive in just her underwear.
One of the videos showed both men digitally raping her.
Other videos showed the ex-boyfriend placing his genitals on her face and raping her with an object.
The victim sent the videos to her phone, which she then gave to police.
Police arrested both men not long after.
The ex-boyfriend was arrested with meth, cannabis and more than three grams of GHB substitute drug butanediol.

In her victim statement, she said had “empathy in her heart” despite both offenders committing “such a horrible act”.
“I believe these men were good people once,” she said.
“However, due to life choices, I also believe they have changed and become a danger to the people around them.
“I felt safe with my partner and our best friend.
“We did everything together and we had what I thought was a special friendship that would last forever.
“I still can’t understand why this has happened and I suppose I never will.
“My life has been changed forever and so have theirs.”
Judge Scott Johns said both men had perpetrated a “savage betrayal of trust” which caused the victim “pain” and “psychological and emotional scars”.
The ex-boyfriend pleaded guilty to three charges of rape and two charges of a possessing drug of dependence.
He also pleaded guilty to committing an offence while on bail.
He was sentenced to a maximum term of seven years and eight months.
The friend pleaded guilty to two charges of rape.
He was sentenced to a maximum of five years and nine months.
