If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.
This alleged crook tried four times to smash into the glass door of a whitegoods store in Cheltenham before breaking it with a fire hydrant cover and allegedly stealing cash and a vacuum cleaner.
In CCTV released by Moorabbin crime investigation unit detectives, a man can be seen making two futile attempts with the cover before trying to push the door open.
Picking up the fire hydrant again, he makes another attempt at tossing it through the door.
After another failed attempt, he looks in the direction of the camera, before finally managing to hurl the burly object through the glass.
Leading Senior Constable Rohan Imms said the incident happened on January 23 about 12am on Centre Dandenong Rd and alleged the man got into the store through the smashed window and stole cash and a vacuum cleaner.
“Investigators have released CCTV and images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries,” he said.
