Neighbours fed up with Braeside brothel Venus Babes and semi-naked women dancing in street

Lingerie-clad sex workers have been caught on camera dancing on the street outside a Braeside brothel. But despite some fed-up neighbours moving out, and others demanding it shut down, the brothel’s owners are planning to expand.

Fed-up neighbours of a Braeside brothel, who say prostitutes are often on the street in their underwear, are horrified at its planned expansion.

Venus Babes has lodged a permit application with Kingston Council to expand its Downard St premises.

However neighbouring traders say the brothel should be shut down.

They say Venus Babes managers do nothing to stop sex workers dancing or strolling out on the street wearing nothing but skimpy lingerie.

Neighbours also complained about near-naked women regularly hopping into cars, which are then driven away.

The women are usually dropped back to Venus Babes about 20 minutes later.

Video obtained by the Leader backed up these claims.

Fed-up neighbours have complained about semi-naked women cavorting in the streets outside Venus Babes brothel in Braeside.

Brad Konndouras had operated a business next door to the brothel, but said he had to move.

“Women in knickers and bras dancing out in the street, girls hopping in cars and driving away for 20 minutes, everything went on there and (all) while the owners were around,” Mr Konndouras said.

“I reported all this to the council but they didn’t seem interested.

“We just had to leave in the end. We had the same landlord and as soon as we moved they took the site on a long-term contract.”

Another neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said girls were constantly dancing semi-naked out the front.

“It’s bad for my business but the brothel doesn’t seem to care,” she said.

“I cannot believe the council will consider allowing them to expand.”

Kingston Planning and Development manager Jonathan Guttmann said the council became aware of concerns about Venus Babes via objections to the brothel’s permit application.

“These (concerns) have not been investigated by (the) council’s planning compliance officers,” he said.

Venus Babes management is seeking to increase the number of rooms at 41 Downard St premises from four to six.

The council will consider the application once the public consultation period expires.

Venus Babes was contacted for comment.
