A new three-storey childcare centre will cater for more than 100 children when it opens in Cheltenham next month, just weeks after a nearby kinder closed down.

Opening at Bay Rd’s Assembly urban industrial estate, Kids House Cheltenham Early Learning Centre will focus on open plan learning and promoting individuality among children, with indoor and outdoor areas tailored just for kids.

It comes after neighbouring Beaumaris Three Year Old Kindergarten shut down last week due to dwindling numbers and rising costs. And two other Bayside kinders have also closed in the last 18 months.

Kids House Cheltenham service manager Melinda Mastorakos, who has worked in the childhood learning space for more than 25 years, said up to 30 educators would care for 108 children from babies to kinder kids.

She said the centre would offer small group workshops and art classes for up to 12 children.

“My passion for early childhood development comes from my own experience as a parent,” she said.

“I strongly believe we need passionate educators who not only provide a high level of education and care, but also offer a warm and caring environment where children feel safe, secure and supported.

“A rich and stimulating learning and play environment during a child’s formative years will also help to set them up for success in their school and adult years.”

The centre will open in the first week of May.
