Hank Marvin Market farewells home base and launches two new venues
A popular farmers' market is packing its bags — again. This time around the Bayside favourite is headed to two primary schools and planning to settle in for the long haul. Here’s why.

After a torrid few months Hank Marvin Market is bouncing back with two new locations.
From this weekend the market will start operating at Elsternwick Primary School on Saturdays and Ripponlea Primary School on Sundays.
The market, which started four years ago in St Kilda’s Alma Park East, has been looking for new digs since June after being moved on from its second location in Sandringham.
Hank Marvin Market founder Paul Wesolek said the enterprise had been welcomed by the schools.
“Both schools offer an automatic, close-knit community that we really want to tap into and connect with,” Mr Wesolek said.
“We are so blessed that over the past four years we have become a weekly stalwart for so many people and families, but we want to make sure that we keep the business evolving and the ideas flourishing.”
Ripponlea Primary principal Natalie Rose said the school had seen first hand the benefits of hosting the market after the recent Bakers Exchange — also run by Hank Marvin — was held at the school.
“We’re a small school with only 280 children, but we have a strong community,” Ms Rose said.
“We could see how popular the Bakers Exchange was with our community and when Mr Wesolek said he was looking to move his regular market to a school we jumped at the chance.”
Ms Rose said the school also hoped to have a stall at the market in future to showcase the talents of parents and students.
She said while the school did not have a lot of parking, most families and others attending the market were likely to walk or ride bikes to the event.
To celebrate its new homes Hank Marvin Market is giving away two Golden Tickets.
The prize entitles the winners to a free street food meal, drink and dessert of their choice for themselves and a friend every weekend at either of the two new locations until the end of 2019.
