STUDENTS from Glen Eira College jetted to Paris after winning a prestigious competition.

More than 30 students were involved in the entry that won first prize in the overseas school section of the Dis-moi dix mots French Competition.

Three students and their teacher travelled to Paris earlier this month to receive the prize at the Academie Française.

Student Leah Sandow said it was a “once in a lifetime opportunity”.

“It was amazing to be around so much rich culture and history,” she said.

“I have created strong friendships and have learnt how beautiful and diverse Paris is.”

The competition was held by the French Ministry of Education as a way to celebrate the language through photography, poetry and drawing.

It invited students to create a literary or artistic production based on those words.

More than 800 projects were submitted from around the globe.

French teacher Loveena Narayanen said because this year’s theme was the internet, the class decided to create a website on which they posted their creations.
