A devastated mum has been left reeling after her 20-month-old bub took his final breaths in her arms.

Last year, Monica Djuric was told her baby Levi had contracted streptococcus pneumonia — a bacterial infection which infected Levi’s brain causing it to swell.

Ms Djuric said the severity of the infection had left Levi with irreversible brain damage, and the devastated family with the unfathomable task of planning a funeral.

Last week, after 13 months of fighting, Baby Levi took his last breaths.

Aunt Alexandra Djuric said Baby Levi was “tremendously loved and touched the lives of many”.

“Our hearts are heavy but it brings us peace knowing our brave little boy is no longer suffering,” she said.

“On the September 11, 2024 our beautiful, brave, strong little boy gained his wings in the arms of his parents Monica and Ricky.”

A funeral will be held in Springvale on September 20 to honour Baby Levi’s life.

“We thank everybody for the overwhelming amount of love and support during this heartbreaking time.”
